The Austin Seven (Mini Cooper S) became an icon in rallying in the 1960s. Its success at the legendary Monte Carlo Rallies of 1964, 1965, and 1967, in particular, made the small but lightning-fast Mini world-famous. Its compact size, innovative front-wheel drive, and agility gave the Mini a huge advantage over larger rally cars. This made it the symbol of British motorsport glory in the 1960s.
In 1965, Corgi released the 333 Austin Seven International Rally model, based on the Mini Cooper S in rally trim 225. The scale model was equipped with authentic details such as rally stickers and lights, just like the cars that competed in international races. The colorful packaging enhanced the rally atmosphere and made this model one of the most beloved Corgi miniatures of the time.
The Corgi Model Club has re-released this special model as a faithful reissue, complete with the original details and the iconic box. This reissue gives collectors the chance to own a significant piece of model car history, without the rarity and fragility of a 1960s original.
This example is in excellent condition and comes with the original reissue box, making it a stunning and complete collector's item. A wonderful tribute to both the legendary Mini and Corgi's golden era in the model car world.
