Rare and complete scale model of the Corgi Toys 290 Kojak’s Buick Regal, produced between 1976 and 1981 by Corgi Toys in Great Britain. This model is based on the popular American television series “Kojak”, which made a splash worldwide between 1973 and 1978, starring Telly Savalas as the charismatic and bald police inspector Lt. Theo Kojak.
The series was set in New York City and was known for its gritty atmosphere, character-driven stories and of course the iconic line: “Who loves ya, baby?” The Buick Regal that Kojak drove in the series was given a lifelike miniature version by Corgi, complete with removable red flashing light and Kojak himself as a separate figure – a rare detail that is missing from many second-hand examples.
This model, Corgi 290, was made in a sturdy die-cast metal body, with a characteristic metallic brown colour, American police equipment, and rolling wheels. The addition of the Kojak figure makes this an extra valuable collector's item.
A desirable and nostalgic collector's item from the heyday of television and toy culture. For lovers of vintage Corgi models, classic TV series or American cars from the 70s, this is a valuable addition in very good, original condition.
