A beautifully preserved example of the Corgi Toys No. 425 Austin FX4 London Taxi in a special "Hamleys" livery, produced between 1978 and 1982. This model is marked "Made in China," making it one of the last official models under the classic Corgi Toys name before the brand transitioned to more modern production and other collector series.

The Austin FX4 is perhaps the most famous London taxi of all time. Since its introduction in 1958, this four-seater has become a symbol of the traditional British street scene. With its rounded lines, spacious rear seat, and classic black paint, the FX4 remained in service well into the 1990s.

This Corgi edition features the model in a charming and eye-catching promotional version for toy store Hamleys, one of the oldest and most iconic toy stores in the world, located on Regent Street in London.

Production in China marks an important transition period for Corgi. In the early 1980s, the brand gradually began moving its production outside the UK due to economic pressures. As a result, these models of Chinese origin are rare and sought after by collectors interested in the final chapter of the original Corgi Toys era.

This particular example is in excellent condition, with fresh paint, undamaged graphics, and intact wheels. A beautiful piece that encompasses both nostalgia and collector value.

A special collector's item from the transition from the classic to the modern Corgi era – perfect for fans of London vehicles, Corgi history, or toy promotions from the 1970s and 1980s.
