Very nice scale model of the DAF 44 Stationcar, produced by the Dutch brand Lion Car, from the first production series. This version represents an important piece of Dutch automotive and toy history.
The DAF 44, designed by the famous Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, was produced between 1966 and 1974 by the Van Doorne’s Automobiel Fabriek (DAF) in Eindhoven. The stationcar version offered extra loading space and was popular because of its practical ease of use, combined with the characteristic Variomatic transmission.
Lion Car, a leading Dutch manufacturer of metal scale models, brought this DAF 44 Stationcar onto the market as part of their realistic model series. This specific example comes from the first production period, recognizable by the suspension attachment of the opening tailgate, and is Made in Holland, a proof of authentic Dutch craftsmanship.
A charming collector’s item that will appeal to both model car enthusiasts and DAF enthusiasts. The combination of early production, authentic execution and the presence of the original box makes this model a valuable addition to any collection.
