Exceptionally neat Bburago 01094 Fiat Cinquecento Rally in 1:24 scale. This model belongs to the later generation of Bburago models, in which the manufacturer focused on compact European cars in sporty rally trim. The Cinquecento Rally is now a prized collector's item due to its recognizable 1990s look and the popularity of the genuine Fiat Cinquecento.
The Fiat Cinquecento was launched in 1991 as a modern successor to the Fiat 126 and as a new compact city car within the Fiat family. The model was characterized by a sleek, angular design typical of the early 1990s. It was a front-wheel drive car with a surprisingly spacious interior. Moreover, the car was fuel-efficient and had low running costs.
Although the standard Cinquecento was primarily intended as a practical city car, the Cinquecento Sporting soon appeared, featuring a sportier chassis, a more lively engine, and a rally-worthy appearance. With its compact size, light weight, and responsive steering, the Cinquecento became popular as an entry-level rally car in Europe. Fiat itself supported this through promotional programs and special rally editions, making the car a fixture in amateur and semi-professional championships.
Bburago's Cinquecento Rally is directly inspired by these sporty models. It is one of the less common Bburago models, primarily because compact city cars were produced less widely than sports and supercars within the range. This particular example is in very good condition, which is exceptional given the age and fragility of some of the decals and interior components. The model is ideal for a collector of Bburago, Fiat models, or European rally cars from the 1990s.
