The Jaguar XJS was introduced in 1975 as the successor to the legendary E-Type. It was an elegant, luxurious sports coupé designed for high performance, but also for long-distance comfort. With its characteristic long bonnet, sleek lines, and modern technology, the XJS embodied Jaguar's sporting class in the 1970s and 1980s. Despite criticism from purists who continued to adore the E-Type, the XJS became a success and remained in production until 1996.
Corgi translated this iconic design into their Corgi Juniors series and released the Jaguar XJS as number 72. The small scale model (1:64) surprisingly captured the coupé's elegant lines in a compact and robust toy format. The Juniors series was known for its robustness, meaning these models were often played with intensively. Original examples in good condition are therefore sought after by collectors today. This example is in excellent condition, which is exceptional considering the age and playability of the Juniors series. The paint and details are well preserved, making this model a valuable addition to both a Corgi collection and a collection of classic Jaguar miniatures.
A beautiful piece of British automotive history in a pocket-sized package, the Corgi Junior 72 Jaguar XJS perfectly captures the luxury and sportiness of the 1970s.
