The Simca 1100 was introduced in 1967 and was one of the most progressive cars in its class. The model combined a compact body with a spacious hatchback layout, front-wheel drive, and a modern suspension. This put the Simca 1100 ahead of an entire generation of family cars in Europe. It became a resounding success; in the 1970s, the 1100 was one of the best-selling cars in France and popular in many other European countries.

The French toy manufacturer Majorette released the Simca 1100 as model 234 in a 1:60-1:64 scale. As is typical for Majorette, the miniature was made of sturdy die-cast zinc and featured functional details such as an opening tailgate and a spring washer. The model accurately captured the characteristic shape of the hatchback, which was still relatively new at the time.

The Majorette 234 Simca 1100 is a charming example of French automotive history in miniature form. Because many examples were played intensively, a model in played-with condition is now the most common. Despite the wear and tear, it remains an attractive collector's item, especially for enthusiasts of French cars and classic Majorette models from the 1970s.
