The Simca 1307/1308 series was introduced in 1975 as the successor to the popular Simca 1100. It was a modernly designed mid-size hatchback, developed by Chrysler Europe (of which Simca was a subsidiary at the time). The 1307/1308 was even named Car of the Year in 1976, thanks to its spacious interior, progressive design, and excellent driving characteristics.
Shortly after the introduction of the real car, the French model car manufacturer Majorette released the Majorette 240 Simca 1308 in 1:60/1:64 scale. The model was known for its solid metal body and functional details, such as opening doors and an accurate representation of the typical hatchback shape. Like many other Majorette models from the 1970s, the 1308 was intended to be both a sturdy toy and a collector's item. The Majorette 240 Simca 1308 is now a popular model among collectors of French miniatures and cars from the 1970s. Because many examples were heavily played with back then, neat ones are harder to find. A lightly played-with example usually shows minor signs of wear but retains its charm and historical value as a representative of an important French car model.
