The Dinky Toys 736 Bundesmarine Sea King Helicopter is a wonderful piece of toy history, produced by Meccano Ltd. in Liverpool between 1973 and 1978. This die-cast helicopter, finished in the distinctive blue-grey colours of the German Bundesmarine, is based on the iconic Westland Sea King – a versatile rescue and transport helicopter that saw service worldwide.

This model came with impressive details, such as working blades and an extendable hook with sonar for underwater missions. It served not only as a toy, but also as an educational piece, letting children dream of heroic rescue operations and adventurous patrols above the ocean.

This example is in lightly played with condition. It shows some signs of use and minor paint damage, consistent with its age and the fun it has brought. The sonar for the hook is unfortunately missing, but all the blades and the rotor are still present and in working order. It is a solid and complete-looking model that still retains its charm and impressive appearance.
