This Luso-Toys Ford Capri MKII in scale 1:43 is a beautifully preserved model car, produced in Portugal in the 1970s to early 1980s. Luso-Toys was a Portuguese manufacturer of miniature vehicles, best known for making diecast models under license or based on famous European car models. Although less well-known than big brands such as Dinky or Corgi, Luso-Toys now has a cult status among collectors due to the charm, solidity and relative rarity of their models.
This particular model represents the Ford Capri Mk2 (Mark II) – a sports coupe introduced in 1974 as a successor to the successful Capri Mk1. The Mk2 had a more modern, functional design with a hatchback tailgate and improved handling, but retained its characteristic long bonnet and sporty appearance. The Capri was often described as "the Mustang of Europe" and was particularly popular in the UK and Germany.
Although Luso-Toys models were often played with and rarely survive in perfect condition, this example is exceptionally well preserved. Models like this are becoming increasingly rare on the market, especially in this condition.
A valuable addition to any collector of European diecast cars or enthusiast of Ford Capri models.
