Striking and spectacular scale model of the Corgi Toys 163 “Glo-Worm” Dragster, produced between 1971 and 1976 by Corgi Toys in Great Britain. This imaginative model was inspired by the wildly popular American drag racing culture of the 1960s and 1970s – a world of speed, smoke, and spectacular show cars.
The “Glo-Worm” was not an exact copy of an existing vehicle, but rather a custom dragster concept, designed by Corgi itself. The name refers to the elongated, illuminated appearance of the vehicle and fits in with a trend of imaginative hot rods and show dragsters, such as those seen in shows such as Hot Wheels or Ed “Big Daddy” Roth designs.
The model is characterized by a stark white paint with blue decals, an extra-long red chassis, large rear wheels, an exuberant engine block and a cockpit reminiscent of science fiction. The design captures the imagination and remains a cherished example of Corgi’s creativity in the early 1970s to this day.
This particular example is in very good condition, with a beautiful, glossy paint and original details well preserved. In addition, the original Corgi box is included, making this set extra special and attractive to collectors.
A unique collector’s item that perfectly captures the spirit of early 1970s model car creativity and custom car culture. Both a nostalgic toy and a special collector’s model for lovers of vintage Corgi, dragsters, and fantasy vehicles.
